Tender Care.
Every Detail Reconsidered.
Evolving an Icon.
For my bachelor’s thesis in Industrial Design Engineering, I collaborated with Oriflame Cosmetics to redesign the packaging of their iconic Tender Care balm. The original jar posed challenges in hygiene, sustainability, and everyday usability, with its narrow opening making the product difficult to access and prone to residue buildup. To address these issues, I developed a new packaging concept that eliminates wasted space and improves ergonomics while preserving the familiar identity of the product.

The redesign focuses on intuitive, comfortable use and a cleaner overall experience. Through research, prototyping, and testing, the project brings modern functionality to a long-loved classic. The result is a refreshed Tender Care that remains instantly recognizable, yet works far better in daily life.
Form That Follows Use.
The concept explores a completely new flip-cap mechanism developed specifically for this project, along with a refined overall form of the Tender Care jar. By removing unnecessary internal space, the design allows users to access all of the balm with ease, while the new cap opens comfortably and makes everyday use effortless. Its compact, handleable size fits naturally in a bag, pocket, or purse, making it simple to carry anywhere.
Simple and Sustainable.
Designed for straightforward production and top-down assembly, the jar remains efficient to manufacture, and the reduced material use makes it a more sustainable solution than its predecessor. The overall volume of the jar was optimized, and unnecessary internal space was removed, lowering the total amount of material required.
